• Successfully represented a major public infrastructure developer before the High Court on issue of deductibility of business loses and whether capital injection by the Government in return for shares should be considered as income / grant.
• Acted for a listed investment holding company in an appeal on issues relating to whether the taxpayer’s sources of income can be further sub-divided into income / non-income producing counter under the Income Tax Act 1967.
• Successfully represented a tooling manufacturer in a tax. Appeal before the High Court concerning time-barred assessments raised by the Inland Revenue Board when disallowing reinvestment allowance claimed by the appellant.
• Successfully represented a steel manufacturer with headquarter in Spain in an Application for Judicial Review against the Government’s decision in removing the Anti-Dumping Duties on goods imported by foreign manufacturers into Malaysia.
• Successfully represented Amlife Insurance Bhd (now AmMetLife Insurance Bhd) in an appeal at the Court of Appeal on the ascertainment of income under different categories of insurance funds under the Income Tax Act 1967 and Insurance Act 1996.

Corporate & Commercial

• Advised on the structuring and implementation of a shareholders’ agreement in connection with the acquisition of equity and capital injection into a national pharmacy chain, with particular focus onshareholder rights, governance structure, and exit strategies.
• Reviewed and prepared both English and Chinese versions of a Purchase and Supply Agreement between a China-based manufacturer and a major Japanese automotive brand, ensuring cross-border legal compliance, contractual clarity, and linguistic precision.
• Provided comprehensive legal support in formalising a franchise arrangement for a growing drinks retail chain, encompassing brand protection, regulatory compliance, franchise operations, and revenue structure.
• Represented a Malaysian technology start-up in a strategic market withdrawal involving cross-border negotiations. The engagement included advising on the orderly wind-down of operations, transfer of assets, and resolution of contractual and regulatory obligations.
• Structured and formalised a suite of distribution and after-sales service agreements for a Malaysian distributor’s collaboration with a China-based manufacturer across multiple product categories, addressing supply chain, servicing, and commercial terms.
• Advised on a business cooperation agreement between two technology companies for the establishment of a joint venture operating within a flagship shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur, detailing rights, responsibilities, operational scope, and profit-sharing mechanisms.

• Advised a China-based automotive company that specialises in E-vehicles on their importation of E-vehicles to Malaysia.
• Advised a brewery manufacturer on customs licensing and retail issues, particularly on whether the state authority has the power to ban the sale of alcoholic beverages.
• Advised a public listed flour manufacturer on the tax treatment of subsidy paid by the Government for purposes of reducing manufacturers’ cost of production.
• Advised a public listed investment holding company on the tax implications under the RPGT Act, particularly on the status of Real Property Company.
